FREE Lead Paint Renovator (RRP) Classes

Individuals in need of lead paint certification to comply with the EPA's Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule are required to take a training course to learn about the importance of containment and using lead-safe work practices. This course is intended for all homeowners, contractors and professionals responsible for projects performed on pre-1978 residential properties or child-occupied facilities such as daycares, elementary schools, and pre-schools. Lead certification applies to firms that disturb more than six square feet of lead paint or coated surfaces. Firms that are not lead-safe certified are subject to fines of up to $41,056 per day.

EPA Lead Renovator certification, valid for 5 years

Why are these classes free? The U.S. Federal Government and the New York State Department of Health has awarded money to local health departments for lead hazard remediation. Dutchess, Rockland and Westchester counties are covering 100% of the cost for your individual certification.

Who is eligible to take free classes? Anyone that lives in the county where the class is taking place. The classes are for Contractors, Workers, Property Management Staff, Landlords, Renters and Homeowners in the respective county. If you do not live in the county but work there, or have a contractor's license in the county, then you are also eligible to take the free class. Information will be requested to verify your eligibility.

How do I get an Individual Lead Paint Renovator Certification?

Complete this free EPA Lead Paint class to obtain your individual certification and pass the test! Certificates are generally emailed within 48 to 72 hours after completing the class.
