SST Card Information
Workers who have taken 30-Hour OSHA in the past 5 years need 10 hours of additional training, outlined below.
As a requirement of Local Law 196 of 2017 in order to work on a site that requires a Site Safety Plan and a designated Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager:
-
Workers must be able to submit a Site Safety Training (SST) card demonstrating proof that they have received a minimum of 40 hours of safety training defined by the Department.
-
Supervisors (Site Safety Managers, Site Safety Coordinators, Construction Superintendents, and Competent Persons) must be able to submit a Supervisor Site Safety Training (SST) card demonstrating that they have received a minimum of 62 hours of safety training defined by the Department.
NYC construction workers and supervisors can complete their Site Safety Training (SST) courses through any DOB-Registered Course Provider authorized to issue SST cards. SST cards are valid for five years from the date of issuance. To renew a card, workers must complete the required SST Refresher training with any DOB-Registered Course Provider within the 12 months before the card expires.
IMPORTANT: SST cards can only be renewed while they are still active. Once a card has expired, it cannot be renewed. Workers who have taken 30-Hour OSHA in the past 5 years need 10 hours of additional training.
